The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adamawa State Command, has intercepted a total of 589.536 kilogrammes of illicit drugs across 21 Local Government Areas between July and August 2025.
State Commander, Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Yola, noting that the seizures were part of intensified operations against drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
According to him, a total of 107 suspects, including female defendants, were arrested within the period, while four vehicles used for illicit drug activities were also confiscated.
“This is a presentation of the scorecard for Adamawa Command of the NDLEA for the months of July and August 2025. This presentation is in line with our commitment to transparency, accountability, and fostering public trust in our collective fight against the scourge of drug abuse and illicit trafficking,” Abubakar stated.
The commander revealed that the agency secured 15 convictions, while 50 drug-related cases remain pending before the Federal High Court in Yola.
He added that 23 defendants were remanded in prison custody, while 14 fresh charges were filed within the two-month period.
On rehabilitation efforts, Abubakar said 12 out of 22 drug-dependent individuals were successfully treated and reintegrated into society through the command’s rehabilitation programme.
He further highlighted the impact of the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which sensitised over 10,729 students, educators, and community members across the state.
In addition, drug integrity tests were conducted on 73 individuals, while the command generated ₦340,271, which was duly remitted.
Zonal Commander, Ishaku Kwajafa, commended the Adamawa command for its outstanding performance, attributing the success to the dedication and professionalism of the officers.
He also urged newly promoted officers and recipients of commendation letters to redouble their efforts and justify the confidence reposed in them.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), five senior officers were decorated with new ranks, while 12 others received commendation letters from the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Buba Marwa.
