NDLEA Busts Drug Syndicate Selling Cannabis as ‘Christmas Cookies’ on WhatsApp

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two suspected masterminds of a drug syndicate that disguised high-grade Canadian Loud cannabis as imported Christmas cookies and snacks, selling the illicit products exclusively via WhatsApp.

The suspects, Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi, were taken into custody on Saturday, 22 November 2025, during a raid on their hideout located on Ojulari Street, Ikate, in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos.

According to the NDLEA, the syndicate imported the potent strain of cannabis, repackaged it into attractive designer sachets bearing images and labels of popular cookies and snacks, and marketed them as “Christmas treats.”

Spokesman for the agency said the arrests followed weeks of intelligence-led monitoring of the group’s WhatsApp sales platform.

During the operation, officers recovered approximately 5 kilograms of the Canadian Loud cannabis and a large cache of the deceptive designer packaging from the apartment.

The suspects remain in NDLEA custody as investigations continue.
