NCAA Summouns Ibom Air Crew, Comfort Emmanson for Further Investigation

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned the cabin crew of Ibom Air and passenger Comfort Emmanson for further investigation following a widely publicized altercation aboard a Uyo-to-Lagos flight on August 10, 2025.

The incident, which involved Emmanson allegedly assaulting crew members, has sparked significant controversy and debate over aviation safety protocols and passenger treatment.

According to the NCAA, the summons aims to gather detailed accounts from all parties involved to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.

Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, confirmed that Emmanson met with officials on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, during the Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja.

The Ibom Air cabin crew, including crew member Juliana Edward, is expected to appear before the authority on Wednesday for continued questioning.

The NCAA has called for eyewitness accounts from passengers on the flight to aid the investigation, emphasizing the need for fairness and accountability.

Achimugu noted that a verifiable witness has provided a detailed account, offering new perspectives on the crew’s conduct and passenger handling before takeoff.

The authority has issued a Letter of Investigation (LOI) to Ibom Air and plans to meet with the airline and witnesses to review the incident thoroughly.
