NCAA Approves Challenger, CRJ Maintenance For Onedot Aviation

2 weeks ago 21

LAGOS – The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has given certification to Onedot Aviation to carry out maintenance on Bombardier Challenger and CRJ aircraft.

A statement by Capt. Henry Ogunyemi, Managing Director, Onedot Aviation, stated that this certification would enhance the company’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities, thereby boosting Nigeria’s aviation sector and creating local job opportunities.

The certificate was signed and issued by Engr. Victor Goyea, Director of Airworthiness Standards.

Ogunyemi, attributed the success of the accreditation to his team’s dedication despite the challenges.

He said: “This achievement reflects our team’s expertise and commitment. The NCAA’s approval enables us to expand MRO services, including base maintenance, supporting Nigeria’s aviation growth and local employment.”

Since launching its MRO facility at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos in 2013, Onedot Aviation has steadily grown its maintenance capabilities.

Previously approved for wheels and brakes, non-destructive testing and sheet metal repairs, the company now holds Operational Specifications (Ops Specs) for base maintenance on Challenger and CRJ aircraft.

Ogunyemi posited that this approval, positioned Onedot Aviation as a comprehensive MRO provider for operators in Nigeria and the region.

He added that this certification also addresses economic challenges by reducing capital flight from overseas aircraft maintenance.

He explained further that Nigerian airlines often incur high costs by sending aircraft abroad for servicing, but maintaining that with this, such expenses would be eliminated.

“Onedot Aviation’s expanded services offer a reliable local alternative, retaining revenue within the country and strengthening the domestic aviation industry.

“Looking ahead, Onedot Aviation plans to expand its capacity to handle more aircraft types and services. By investing in infrastructure, technology, and personnel training, the company aims to become a leading MRO provider in West Africa,” he added.

Ogunyemi emphasised that the NCAA’s rigorous certification process included safety audits, operational evaluations, and inspections to ensure compliance.

Industry stakeholders have in the past, commended Onedot Aviation’s growing impact, particularly in executive and regional jet operations.
