Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the expulsion of his principal and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, describing the PDP’s decision as nothing more than an early-season revelry.
In a statement on his 𝕏 account, Olayinka mocked the exercise, saying PDP members in Ibadan had begun their festive season ahead of schedule.
He said, “They went to Ibadan to start their own Dirty December in November.
“When people decide to start their Dirty December early, one can’t help but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths.”
Olayinka further dismissed the delegates’ comments, insisting that the gathering was dominated by social indulgence rather than serious political deliberations.
He said the group assembled mostly for “social enjoyment,” adding that after indulging in drinks, they were “free to say anything,” stressing that their statements should not be taken seriously.
Naija News had earlier reported that the PDP, during its convention in Ibadan, expelled Wike, Fayose, and Samuel Anyanwu for alleged anti-party activities.
The motion for their expulsion, which received unanimous support from convention delegates, was moved by a founding member of the party,Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
The decision came despite multiple court orders restraining the convention from holding. Several party elders, including a former Senate President, had urged the Damagum-led faction to obey the judiciary and avoid actions capable of further fragmenting the already troubled party.
