National Assembly postpones resumption till October 7

The National Assembly has pushed back its resumption date by two weeks, moving from September 23 to October 7.

Lawmakers in both chambers had adjourned plenary on July 24 to begin their annual two-month recess, which was initially scheduled to end next week. But in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, announced that plenary sessions would now resume on October 7.

The notice, titled “Reschedule of resumption date of Plenary Activities in the National Assembly,” stated: “I am directed by the presiding officers of both Chambers of National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to inform all members of the National Assembly and the general public that the resumption date of the National Assembly earlier scheduled for Tuesday 23rd September 2025 is postponed to Tuesday 7th October 2025.”

While plenary will remain suspended, the Clerk clarified that committees would continue with their scheduled activities. “All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are requested to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules accordingly,” the statement read.

The notice added that “any inconvenience caused by this rescheduling is deeply regretted.”
