Nathan Tella Still Recovering, Onuachu Eyes Goal Against Galatasaray

Bayer Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand has given an update on Nathan Tella’s injury, revealing that the Nigerian winger is still not fully fit after being out for more than a month.

Nathan Tella picked up a knee injury in September and only returned to training earlier this month. The 25-year-old had been tipped to rejoin the squad soon, but Hjulmand confirmed that his recovery has taken longer than expected.

“With [Nathan] Tella, [the injury] was more difficult and complicated than we first thought,” Hjulmand told Werkself Extra. “I think he’ll need the international break as well. It’s looking better and better, but I can’t say when [he’ll return] exactly.”

The Super Eagles forward has featured in just four matches for Leverkusen this season, and the club has been cautious not to rush him back. His return after the international break would be a major boost for the defending Bundesliga champions, who continue to compete on multiple fronts.

Meanwhile, Trabzonspor and Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu, is looking to extend his fine scoring form when his team visit Galatasaray at RAMS Park on Saturday.

The 30-year-old has been in outstanding shape, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in ten league matches. He has already found the net against Fenerbahce and Besiktas but has yet to score against Galatasaray, a challenge he is eager to meet.

“Scoring against Galatasaray would be a special moment in my career,” Onuachu told Kuzey Ekspres.
