Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has lamented the poor turnout of residents in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The governor made this known on Wednesday in Lafia, during the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) grassroots sensitisation and voter education campaign on the CVR.
The event also marked the second anniversary of the state APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, and Secretary, Yairus Dagusa, in office.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Governor Sule noted that data released so far revealed that Nasarawa State ranked low in voter registration figures. He urged party leaders and members to intensify efforts at the grassroots level by sensitising residents in wards and polling units to register, so they can exercise their franchise in the 2027 general elections.

“If you look at the charts that were published, Nasarawa State is still down below among states in the country in the ongoing INEC CVR process. So, this is an opportunity for us to go back to our constituencies, our wards, our polling units and encourage our people to register so that they will be able to vote during the 2027 general elections,” Sule said.
The governor also congratulated Bello and Dagusa for completing two years in office, praising their leadership and wishing them greater success in the years ahead. He further appreciated past and current leaders of the party for their contributions to APC’s victories in the state, urging continued unity and teamwork for future success.
On his part, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, commended the APC for initiating the sensitisation exercise. He called on residents to take advantage of the CVR window and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Our population have skyrocketed, but our registered voters remain very low. I want to use this opportunity to urge the residents to go and register so that they can obtain their PVCs. The Nasarawa State House of Assembly under my leadership will continue to make laws and resolutions that would have direct impacts on the residents across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, as well as support the state government’s efforts towards providing good governance for the people,” Jatau stated.
Information Nigeria recalls that INEC commenced the in-person phase of its 2025 Continuous Voter Registration across Nigeria on Monday, August 25, and concluded it on August 30, following an initial online pre-registration phase that started on August 18.
In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Aliyu Bello, reaffirmed the party’s loyalty to Governor Sule, disclosing that the party executives had unanimously agreed to support any governorship aspirant endorsed by the governor ahead of the 2027 elections, regardless of senatorial district.
“As party loyalists, we are ready to accept any chosen governorship aspirant by His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule. We have sat as a party and agreed to allow the Governor to decide on who becomes our party’s flag bearer in the 2027 governorship race,” Bello said.
He also appealed to residents to fully participate in the INEC voter registration exercise to secure their right to vote in the forthcoming polls.
The event attracted top APC leaders and members from all 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State, including federal and state political appointees, members of the House of Assembly, commissioners, and council chairmen.
