The Nasarawa state government has cautioned against publication of false or unverified reports capable of breaching the prevailing relative peace in the state.
Ibrahim Addra, Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Nasarawa state made the call on Saturday, in Lafia.
“This call is imperative coming on the heels of a completely false report of an alleged kidnapping of students in Doma LGA of the state.
“Reports from local authorities, the principal of the purported school and community members indicated no such incidence occurred in the area,” he said.
He added that the Nasarawa state Police Command through its Public Relations Officer (PRO) in particular has issued a statement categorically debunking this falsehood.
“Citizens are thereby enjoined to disregard this false alarm, remain law abiding as government remains unwavering in its commitment to the security of lives and property in the state,” he said.
