The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) officially inducted Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori into its Hall of Fame on Tuesday, recognizing his significant contributions to infrastructural and human capital development across the state.
The Global President of NANS, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, led the induction ceremony during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House in Asaba, accompanied by members of the association’s National Executive Committee. Emonefe, a native of Delta, highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s remarkable progress, which has not only benefited Deltans but also garnered national attention.
Emonefe praised the Governor for his upgrades in infrastructural facilities at state-owned tertiary institutions, the renovation of 150 health centers, and his efforts to empower youth through cabinet appointments and training programs.
He appealed to the Governor to uphold his commitment to fulfill campaign promises, emphasizing the positive impact these initiatives have had on the community.
Additionally, Emonefe presented Governor Oborevwori with an Award of Excellence, acknowledging his dedication to elevating the education sector within the state’s development agenda.
He urged the Governor to continue his regular monitoring of projects, ensuring that Deltans receive maximum value for the funds spent.
“We bring you greetings of solidarity from the National Headquarters of NANS,” Emonefe remarked. “We are delighted to be here today at the Delta State Government House and to honor your achievements, particularly in education and infrastructure.”
In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the induction, outlining his administration’s vision of providing affordable, quality education for all residents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to implementing policies aimed at positively transforming the lives of the populace.
The Governor also congratulated Emonefe on his role as NANS President and reiterated the importance of including young people in leadership positions to showcase their talents.
He noted that over 30,000 students from Delta State have benefited from the bursary scheme and emphasized ongoing efforts to support educational development.
“I am pleased to welcome you all to Government House,” Governor Oborevwori stated. “Education is crucial for empowerment, and we are proud to be the only state with four public universities.
“We will continue to support our students to facilitate their academic success and development.”
