The National Association of Nigerian Students has congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, for bagging the prestigious China–Nigeria Friendship Contribution Award.
The award, conferred by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, came during the commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of China’s founding and the 54th Anniversary of China–Nigeria relations.
In a statement on Monday, NANS President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, described the honour as a testament to Prof. Georgewill’s visionary leadership and commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and cultural diplomacy.
According to him, the University of Port Harcourt under Georgewill has consistently promoted global partnerships, advanced research, and strengthened cultural exchange between nations.
“The recognition reflects not just the strides of UNIPORT but also the enduring legacy of Nigeria’s educational sector as a vital platform for international cooperation,” Oladoja said.
NANS added that the award should inspire Nigerian students, showing that with dedication and openness, universities in the country can command international respect.
The students’ body congratulated Prof. Georgewill and the entire UNIPORT community, describing the recognition as a milestone achievement.
