NAF Strikes Target ISWAP Terrorists In Borno, Kill Commanders, Destroy Gun Trucks


The Nigerian Army has confirmed the killing of 11 fighters belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during separate counter-insurgency operations in Borno and Adamawa States.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the first confrontation occurred on September 15 when troops on patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa road in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State came under attack. The insurgents reportedly ambushed the soldiers with an improvised explosive device (IED) before opening fire.

Troops responded swiftly, engaging the terrorists with superior firepower and forcing them to retreat. A follow-up assessment confirmed that eight insurgents were neutralised in the encounter, including two senior field commanders identified as Munzirs and another leader referred to as Qaid.

“They were identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota, while several others sustained gunshot wounds,” the army statement revealed.

In a separate operation, According to Daily Post, at Umbo village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, troops engaged another group of insurgents, killing additional fighters. The combined operations brought the total number of terrorists neutralised to 11.

During the raids, troops also recovered 14 motorcycles, several AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, multiple rounds of ammunition, anti-aircraft equipment, blankets, and different types of drugs.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying counter-terrorism efforts in the North-East, pledging to maintain pressure on ISWAP elements and restore peace to the region.
