The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched airstrikes on bandit strongholds in Kakihun, Oke-Ode, Babanla, and nearby areas in Kwara State following a deadly assault on the Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred Sunday morning, saw gunmen invade the Ogbayo area, firing indiscriminately and killing 12 people, including the Baale of Ogbayo, while targeting local vigilantes.
In a statement on Monday, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, detailed the response, which included reconnaissance missions and close air support to counter threats.
Hostile targets spotted east of Babanla were neutralized, with surveillance flights providing vital intelligence to support ground operations.
Ejodame emphasized the NAF’s dedication to protecting civilians and troops, maintaining air superiority, and applying relentless pressure on hostile groups.
All missions were completed successfully, reinforcing the NAF’s commitment to national security.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains steadfast in defending our nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of our communities,” Ejodame stated, urging citizens to stay vigilant and support the Armed Forces’ efforts to restore lasting peace.
