The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the November/December 2024 NBC/NTC and ANBC/NANTC examinations, with 67.56% of candidates obtaining five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

Announcing the results in Benin City, NABTEB Registrar, Dr Nnasia Ndarake Asanga, said out of 44,226 candidates who sat for the NBC/NTC exams, 29,880 passed with five credits, including Mathematics and English.

Dr Asanga noted an improvement in overall performance compared to previous years but also disclosed that 256 candidates (0.53%) were involved in examination malpractices.

Giving the breakdown examination, Dr Asanga said 44,730 candidates consisting of 25,542 males and 19,188 females registered for the examination in 1,825 centres but 44,226 candidates sat for the examination.

He said, “42,431 candidates scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics representing 95.94 per cent.”

Dr Asanga acknowledged that performance in English and Mathematics declined slightly compared to 2023, where 28,137 candidates passed both subjects.

He listed the challenges facing the board including fund and resource constraints, misconceptions about Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), curriculum and training, industry partnership and collaboration among others.
