Alexis Mac Allister’s father has denied reports linking his son with a possible move to Real Madrid.

The midfielder’s father has revealed that it was a rumour and Real Madrid did not make any contact to sign the South American midfielder.

Speaking to Madrid-based publication AS, Carlos Mac Allister reaffirmed the Argentinian international’s commitment to the Reds.

“I read the rumours, but that’s all they were. There were no contacts. Anyway, it’s always nice to see my son linked with the biggest clubs in the world.

“Real Madrid is a huge club, but so is Liverpool, and we have to be responsible and respect the club he belongs to and that believed in him.

“I must be prudent. He plays for Liverpool now, and in the future, if the opportunity arises and it’s appropriate, he’ll have to make his own decisions.

“That’s what I’ve raised them for. I have the freedom to give them my opinion, and they have the obligation to do what they think is best.”
