My Acting Talent, Spiritual Growth Started In Church Drama

Actor Bucci Franklin has credited his early involvement in church drama for shaping both his acting career and spiritual growth.

During a recent appearance on the WithChude podcast, posted on Instagram on Friday, Franklin spoke about his early acting experiences.

He recounted that his first taste of the stage came through the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), where he was the only teenager in the men’s fellowship drama group.

“I started from church. In my formative years, I was attending ECWA. Imagine being the only teenager in the men’s fellowship drama group, performing with men in their 50s right there on the pulpit where baptisms were held,” he shared.

Franklin reflected on the impact these early experiences had on his craft and faith, noting that they provided him with both skill and spiritual insight.

“When I think about my experience as a child growing up and having different encounters with my Heavenly Father as regards my job, I know. I don’t need a soothsayer or somebody with a silver tongue. I know,” he added.
