A fresh Nigerian graduate from Oxford Brookes University, UK expresses concerns as her mother congratulates herself and her husband for her academic success.
A social media user identified as @thetosintoge took to the micro-blogging platform X to share her mother’s Facebook post announcing her graduation.
In the post, the mum highlighted the daughter’s academic success while congratulating themselves for doing a great job instead of their daughter.
“I am thankful to God for the success of the Masters degree graduation of my beautiful daughter Oluwatosin Tosin Toge at Oxford, United Kingdom.
Congratulations to me and my husband. Praise God!” she wrote.
In reaction, Tosin lamented why her parents congratulated themselves instead of her who is the actual celebrant.
“I was the one who graduated. Which one is “congratulations to me and my husband,” As how?” she wrote.
