Nigeria’s reputation as a breeding ground for footballers has only grown stronger, with the country’s brightest stars now ranked among Europe’s most valuable players.
Transfermarkt’s latest figures show just how far Super Eagles players have come, both in stature and in market worth.
Below are the top ten most valuable Nigerian players abroad in 2025
1. Victor Osimhen – €70m
At the top is Victor Osimhen, valued at €70m at Galatasaray. His worth has dropped from the €120m mark he once commanded at Napoli, but he remains one of the most feared strikers in Europe.
Osimhen’s reputation has held firm despite injuries. He is currently ranked 47th among all players worldwide and 11th among centre-forwards. He remains the main man for both Galatasaray and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
2. Ademola Lookman – €60m
Ademola Lookman is worth €60m at Atalanta. His journey has been one of setbacks and resurgence. From €20m at Everton in 2019, his value dropped as low as €9m after mixed spells at Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester. But in Italy, Lookman has thrived. He is ranked 61st in the world, sixth in Serie A, and, perhaps most impressively, the number one second striker globally.
3. Victor Boniface – €40m
Victor Boniface’s rise has been rapid. Currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, he is valued at €40m, up from under €1m just three years ago. His breakthrough at Union Saint-Gilloise, where he won the Europa League Golden Boot in 2023, pushed him into the spotlight. Despite injury setbacks, Boniface is ranked 147th worldwide and is Nigeria’s third most valuable player.
4. Alex Iwobi – €28m
Alex Iwobi continues to prove his reliability in the Premier League. The Fulham winger is worth €28m, ranking him fourth among Nigerian stars. His value once peaked at €32m following his move from Arsenal to Everton in 2019, before falling to €18m. Now back on the rise, Iwobi’s work rate and adaptability keep him among Nigeria’s most trusted players.
5. Calvin Bassey – €25m
Fulham’s Calvin Bassey is the most valuable Nigerian defender, now priced at €25m. His steady growth has been remarkable, from €1m at Rangers in 2022 to his current peak. Ranked 348th globally and 63rd among centre-backs, Bassey’s physicality and defensive reliability have made him key for both club and country.
6. Ola Aina – €22m
Ola Aina’s stock has risen sharply since joining Nottingham Forest. The right-back is valued at €22m, the highest of his career. Despite being sidelined with a long-term injury, his influence remains clear. Globally, he is ranked 443rd and sits 24th among right-backs.
7. Raphael Onyedika – €20m
Midfielder Raphael Onyedika, 24, is valued at €20m, reflecting his progress with Club Brugge. He ranks 42nd among defensive midfielders globally and has become an important player for Nigeria in a position that has often lacked depth.
8. Tolu Arokodare – €18m
Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare is valued at €18m after an impressive spell in Belgium, where he won the Ebony Award in 2025 as the Jupiler Pro League’s best African player. Ranked 586th worldwide, his strong start in England suggests his value could climb further.
9. Taiwo Awoniyi – €16m
Once considered the next big thing for Nigeria after his U-17 World Cup exploits, Taiwo Awoniyi is now valued at €16m. He peaked at €30m but has since slipped, largely due to injuries and limited minutes at Nottingham Forest.
10. Wilfred Ndidi – €15m
Wilfred Ndidi rounds off the top ten at €15m with Turkish side Besiktas. Once valued at €60m during his Leicester City days, the midfielder’s market worth has dipped, but his role as an experienced shield in midfield remains critical for Nigeria.
