Super Falcons forward Gift Monday was on target as Washington Spirit defeated Portland Thorns to secure a place in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship final.
Monday opened scoring for Washington Spirit in the 23rd minute.
It was the striker’s 12th goal in the NWSL this season.
The 24-year-old has also scored once in the CONCACAF Women’s Cup, and registered two assists.
Croix Bethune netted the second goal for Spirit six minutes from time.
Monday’s international teammate, Deborah Abiodun featured as a substitute in the game.
The midfielder took the place of Leicy Santos 18 minutes from time.
