Martinez Can Solve Man United Goalkeeping Problem –York

Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has advised the Red Devils to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper if they want to solve their goalkeeping problem.

He made this known after current goalkeeper Andre Onana made two bad mistakes and then only saved one of 13 spot-kicks against Fourth tier Grimsby Town in another agonising defeat for manager Ruben Amorim who is yet to win a game this season.

The Red Devils were linked with Martinez earlier this summer in a move that looked certain to happen. However, he looks increasingly likely to remain at Aston Villa this season after boss Unai Emery handed him a starting role against Brentford.

Speaking to Jackpot City Casino, Yorke opened up on the Argentina international, whose move to United could have helped them stay in the EFL Cup and start the season with a more than a single point.

“Emi Martinez has a big personality, there’s no two ways about that. He’s won the World Cup, he’s one of the best at saving penalties, and he’s got character – he’s got everything. Ideally, I thought we were going to get him because at one stage it looked like he was dead certain to be going to United.

“He probably tried to force that move, but for some reason it didn’t materialise, which in my opinion is a bit of a disappointment. However, Villa is also a club that I’m very familiar with, so whether he stays at Villa, I think it’s a good move for him as well. But I’m sure United would love to have him.”
