Maresca to miss Chelsea’s trip to Nottingham Forest after touchline red

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will be absent from touchline duty when his side face Nottingham Forest on Saturday, October 18, following his red card during the dramatic 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Maresca was dismissed after celebrating Estevao’s last-gasp winner by sprinting down the touchline to join his players in jubilation.

The emotional reaction earned him a second yellow card, resulting in an automatic suspension.

Caballero to take charge against Forest

Assistant coach Willy Caballero is set to lead Chelsea from the dugout at the City Ground in Maresca’s absence.

The Italian’s dismissal capped off a chaotic evening at Stamford Bridge that saw the Blues lose both Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong to injuries, leaving them with limited defensive options.

Injury woes continue for Chelsea

Chelsea remain without several key players, including Cole Palmer, Trevoh Chalobah, and Liam Delap, adding to Maresca’s mounting selection headaches.

Despite the challenges, the manager will take heart from his team’s fighting spirit in the hard-earned win over title favourites Liverpool, secured through Moises Caicedo’s opener and Estevao’s dramatic late strike.
