The Lagos state government has appointed social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as a brand ambassador for its Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse initiative (LASKADA).

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, announced the appointment during a LASKADA event on Tuesday.

Ogunlende said the decision was informed by Mandy Kiss’s large following and influence among young people, noting that the state was seeking new ways to curb rising cases of substance abuse.

“Drug abuse is a pandemic affecting our streets, our society, and our communities. The government cannot fight it alone. We must collaborate with people who can reach the masses, and Mandy Kiss, with over 400,000 followers, fits that role,” he said.

The commissioner formally conferred the role on the influencer, urging young people to join the campaign against drugs.

The appointment comes days after Mandy Kiss drew criticism on social media over her controversial remarks about “marathon sex.”
