Manchester United will not sack manager Ruben Amorim, despite the dismal departure from the Carabao Cup earlier this week.
Grimsby Town eliminated the Red Devils on Wednesday night.
This is the first time United has been eliminated from a competition by a fourth-tier club.
The League Two side took a two-goal lead into the break, before Amorim’s men levelled through late goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire.
But in the end, it was Grimsby Town that won the shoot-out and are in the third round.
Under Amorim, United are yet to win any match this season after three fixtures.
This poor start to the campaign has seen speculation increase over Amorim’s time at Old Trafford.
However, BBC Sport reports that the 40-year-old still enjoys the support of the hierarchy, who want to avoid making short-term decisions.
