Man United agree terms with Emi Martinez, keep tabs on Lammens

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as they push for goalkeeping solution before Monday’s transfer deadline.

With doubts over Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, United have turned to Martinez while also pursuing Belgian youngster Senne Lammens of Antwerp.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have reached an agreement with the Argentine World Cup winner, though negotiations with Villa remain ongoing.

Martinez, 32, still has four years left on his contract after penning fresh terms last year, but speculation over his future has persisted.

ESPN previously claimed he was keen on a switch to Old Trafford, with United seeing a loan bid rejected earlier in the summer.

Meanwhile, United continue talks with Antwerp over Lammens, who has been left out of recent matchday squads amid mounting transfer speculation.

Amorim’s side are hopeful of landing the 22-year-old stopper, though Villa are also monitoring him as a potential Martinez replacement.

Old Trafford legend Dwight Yorke has backed the chase, describing Martinez as “one of the best at saving penalties” and a goalkeeper with the personality to thrive at United.
