Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor to loan goalkeeper Andre Onana for the 2025/26 season, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports.
The 29-year-old Cameroonian, sidelined since the arrival of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18.4 million, has not played in United’s three Premier League games this season, with Altay Bayindir preferred.
Despite Onana’s determination to reclaim his spot after missing pre-season due to injury, the offer of regular first-team football at Trabzonspor, currently second in the Turkish league, has put him at a crossroads.
The Turkish transfer window, open until September 12, 2025, allows the move, unlike England’s closed window.Fans are divided.
“Onana needs game time, but we hate to see him go,” said supporter David Okeke. With negotiations nearing completion, Onana must decide whether to head to Turkey or stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
