Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella opens up about his desire to join Manchester City in 2022 and blames Brighton’s high demands for blocking the move.

Pep Guardiola’s side were very interested in snapping up the Spanish international, but they could not agree on a fee with his club, Brighton.

Speaking with Movistar, Cucurella stated that he was on his knees begging for a move to Man City.

“Man City wanted me before I joined Chelsea. They were on fire, one of the best teams in the world.

“I wanted to go. When they come as they did, when Guardiola asks, you’ll go on your knees if necessary. But the clubs couldn’t reach an agreement.

“Brighton had demands that were out of the market, and it couldn’t be done.”
