Man City join Ademola Lookman race as Atalanta exit looms

Manchester City could reportedly move for Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman if Savinho departs the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 27-year-old Atalanta forward, who handed in a transfer request earlier in the window, was close to sealing a switch to Inter Milan before the deal collapsed due to complications with Atalanta sourcing a replacement.

Now unsettled in Bergamo, Lookman’s strained relationship with the club has attracted interest from several top European sides.

According to Caught Offside, Man City are monitoring his situation closely and “could enter the race” should Savinho leave the Etihad.

Lookman, who scored 20 goals and registered seven assists in 40 games for Atalanta last season, has also drawn interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, all exploring attacking reinforcements late in the transfer window.

While Man City have already strengthened with the arrivals of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Sverre Nypan, and James Trafford, manager Pep Guardiola could be forced into the market again if Savinho exits the club.

Lookman, who struggled during his earlier stints in England with Charlton, Everton and Fulham, has since developed into one of Serie A’s most dangerous forwards, becoming a key figure for both Atalanta and Nigeria.
