The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the beheading of a middle-aged man, Dick Nnachi, in Oso-Edda, located in Edda Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State.
The incident was reported on Thursday, amid a long-standing communal conflict over land ownership between the Oso-Edda and Amasiri communities in Afikpo LGA.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ebonyi State, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He described the killing as “wicked and inhumane” and assured that security forces had been deployed to the area to prevent further escalation.
DSP Ukandu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), “We are aware of the incident and our men have been deployed to the disputed area.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine the root cause and bring those responsible to justice” .
He further advised the communities to heed government directives, stating, “I remember the state Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has declared the area a buffer zone.
“My advice to the warring communities is to avoid the areas that have been declared buffer zones by security agencies and government” .
