Man arrested over sexual assault on wife’s sister

The Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command, has taken into custody a 46-year-old man, Ibrahim Gafaru, over unlawful carnal knowledge of his wife’s younger sister.

The police said before his arrest, the suspect had allegedly had sex with his wife’s 15-year-old younger sister twice last year.

According to the police, the suspect first defiled the teenage girl on December 5, 2024 and repeated the act the next day when his wife was away.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said the case was received at the Gender Unit Ikeja, through a referral letter from the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

Hundeyin said the referral letter, which was addressed to the commissioner of police Lagos state, was dated February 20, 2024, on behalf of the 15-year-old survivor.

He said, “The case is against one Ibrahim Gafaru, aged 46. The survivor alleged that on the 5th and 6th of December,2024 the alleged perpetrator, who is the husband to her aunt, forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, hence the referral letter. The case was accepted while investigation commenced.”
