The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man, identified as Eze Amadi, for allegedly killing his neighbour’s 28-year-old son, Ifeanyi Otu, in Kajola, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed the development in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.
According to Ayanlade, investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. He assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

“The suspect is already in our custody, investigation is ongoing and after investigation is concluded, he will be charged to court. I urge residents to remain calm over the matter,” Ayanlade stated.
Reports gathered by NAN revealed that the Kajola community was thrown into mourning on Monday after the victim, Otu, was allegedly murdered by the suspect inside his residence.
Although the cause of the dispute remains unclear, eyewitness accounts indicated that the suspect allegedly tortured the victim to death before attempting to conceal his body inside a water drum with the intention of disposing of it at night.
Community members reportedly intercepted Amadi while he tried to dispose of the corpse using a motorcycle. He was subsequently handed over to the police.
It was further learnt that both the suspect and the victim’s father, Mr. Michael Otu, live in the same neighbourhood in Kajola.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Nobody knows what transpired between them.”
Speaking on the incident, the victim’s father described the death of his son as devastating.
“I was at home when I received a call that my son’s body, wrapped with foam, had been discovered inside a water drum. When I got to the scene, I saw him lying lifeless after the drum was cut open. I was told that the suspect was caught while trying to dispose of the body. Justice must be served in this case,” Mr. Otu said.
