Mamman Lagos to El-Rufai: Stay away, God will decide 2027

Kaduna state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has asked former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to stay away from the state’s politics, saying God—not any individual—will decide the 2027 elections.

Speaking to journalists in Kaduna after a meeting where 255 local government councilors endorsed Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu for second terms, Mamman Lagos criticized El-Rufai over his recent comments against the governor and the president.

He accused the former governor of implementing anti-people policies and said Governor Sani had worked to reverse them.

“Uba Sani has restored confiscated properties, reversed high tuition fees, and reinstated traditional rulers removed by the previous administration. His government has also embarked on massive infrastructural development across the state,” he said.

The commissioner warned El-Rufai and his supporters against making inflammatory statements, saying the electorate would decide the next election.

Meanwhile, the councilors, led by Muhammad Sani Badiko, declared that there is no vacancy in the Kaduna Government House and Aso Rock in 2027.

They pledged to mobilise grassroots support for Sani’s re-election, citing his achievements in rural development, education, healthcare, and economic recovery.
