The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended an offer to assist the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in resolving its ongoing leadership and internal conflicts,

While APC stated that the PDP urgently needs support, the opposition Party reacted sharply, accusing the ruling APC of contributing to the current crisis afflicting its leadership.

According to APC National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, “We are looking at it (PDP crisis) from the outside and laughing at them. We look forward to a time when they will solicit our help on how to solve their problem.

“We will give them all the help they need with a proviso once they make a formal request that they are overwhelmed by problems and don’t know the solutions.”

He emphasized that the PDP has shown itself to be a poor manager of crisis, lacking internal democracy.

In response, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, described Bala’s comments as insulting.

“We have no time for them. Of course, we know they are laughing at us because of the few elements they are using to cause disharmony in our camp,” Abdullahi said.

The PDP has been fragmented for over a year, with factions aligned with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The situation has been exacerbated by the political ambitions of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which could deepen the Party’s crisis and disrupt reconciliation efforts led by the Olagunsoye Oyinlola committee.

Governor Mohammed has signaled his intention to run for president in 2027 but expressed willingness to withdraw if former President Goodluck Jonathan rejoined the party and ran for office. However, Jonathan’s camp has remained silent, leading to speculation about his interest in the proposal.

Meanwhile, supporters of Wike have rallied behind Makinde as a potential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Makinde has since stated that he has not yet made a decision regarding his candidacy and emphasized his ability to speak for himself.

The PDP’s internal crisis has raised concerns about its ability to offer credible opposition to the ruling APC.

Information Nigeria projects that with the 2027 general election approaching, the Party’s fragmentation and lack of internal democracy may hinder its chances of regaining power.
