manager Ivan Juric has confirmed that Ademola Lookman is making steady progress towards full fitness, offering encouragement ahead of their Serie A meeting with Juventus.
The Super Eagles forward returned to action earlier this week, coming off the bench in Atalanta’s 3-0 win away at Torino.
Since then, the 27-year-old has been training regularly with the squad, and Juric believes the winger is on track to reach peak condition soon.
“He’s training well, and slowly, we will try to get him back to full strength,” Juric told reporters in his pre-match press conference.
Reflecting on the start of the campaign, the Croatian coach admitted frustration at dropped points in the season opener against Pisa but insisted his side have found their rhythm in attack since then.
Looking ahead to Juventus, Juric acknowledged the challenge posed by Igor Tudor’s side, praising their tactical flexibility and depth.
He singled out Kenan Yildiz as a standout performer this season, while also highlighting the danger posed by the Bianconeri’s array of attacking options.
“They have Conceicao, Zhegrova, Yildiz and also three very good strikers. They have speed, technique and a lot of different solutions. We will have to be ready in both the defensive and attacking phases,” he said.
Lookman, who played a key role for Atalanta last season, is expected to be gradually reintroduced as the Bergamo side aim to build momentum in the league.
