Former Nigerian champions, Lobi Stars fought back to beat Mighty Jets 2-1 in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday 3 fixture played yesterday at the Lafia City Stadium, the adopted home ground of the Makurdi based side.
The visitors drew the first blood in the 13th minute when Jonathan Nemper converted the penalty that was awarded to Mighty Jets following a foul in the box by Lobi Stars’ Valentine Egiga.
Six minutes later, Lobi Stars almost equalised but Emmanuel Ofem’s strike hit the crossbar before the ball was quickly cleared away by Abdulaziz Tijani.

However, junior international, Suur Kumaga, drew Lobi Stars level in the 30th minute with a well-taken goal for the first half to end on level terms
On resumption, both teams made tactical changes but it was Lobi Stars who benefitted the most.
One of Lobi Stars’ substitutes, Benjamin Agugu, became the hero for the “Pride of Benue” as he netted the winner a few minutes after his introduction.
The birthday boy pounced on a loose ball in the opponents’ area to give the hosts the lead in the 67th minute.
His goal proved decisive as it helped Lobi Stars to pick the maximum points and maintain their perfect home record.
Lobi Stars had beaten City FC Abuja 1-0 in the opening home match before the narrow 0-1 loss at KADA Warriors in week 2.
