Under District 404B2 of the International Association of Lions Club, Lagos Passionate Lions Club has installed Lion Menwa Okeke as the club’s charter president and inducted all members as charter members
The event was held on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at Protea Hotel Marriot, Ikeja, Lagos State. The public presentation and fundraising for the club were witnessed by top dignitaries across the country including the District Governor and his cabinet officers, Past district governors, and past club presidents of other Lions clubs.
The District Governor of District 404B2, Lion Tolulope Ayodeji Senbajo, conducted the installation of the charter president and the induction of all the members as charter members
He congratulated the charter president and her team and urged them to focus on Lions International Core Service areas, which were based on impacting the communities positively and helping the less privileged in society.
Addressing the new president, he said “I am using this opportunity to extend my warmest congratulations to you and your team on the occasion of your public presentation and fundraising event. This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter in your leadership journey which I am honored to be a part of.
I appeal to you to focus on growing your membership, creating exciting activities to retain existing members, and contributing to LCIF, which enables us to make a global impact. I also implore you to serve your community in line with Lions International’s global causes, such as vision, hunger, environment, and diabetes awareness.’
He encouraged them to take responsibility for their projects and not to relent in whatever they do, “I encourage you to be bold, innovative, and collaborative. Seek out new opportunities, build strong partnerships, and empower your members to take ownership of projects. Encourage your community. Listen to their needs and respond with compassion and kindness. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing amazing works accomplished by the Lagos Passionate Lions Club.”
After the presentation, the charter president of the Lagos Passionate Lions Club, Lion Menwa Okeke, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all who witnessed her ascension to the new position, she said ” on behalf of my club, with deep humility and gratitude to God, we appreciate everyone who witnessed this historic event. Being the charter president of Lagos Passionate Lions Club, it is my privilege and immense honor to serve my people and the community.”
She further talks about the goals of the club:
‘In alignment with Lions Club International and District 404B2 Nigeria. Our goal for the 2024/2025 Lions service year is to execute many impactful projects worth 50 Million Naira within the 12 months of my stewardship. Projects outlined for this include: environmental beautification and tree planting. Youth and widows empowerment, pediatric cancer awareness and support, diabetes awareness and screening, elderly welfare program, hunger relief, and lastly humanitarian outreach.”
Appealing to other members and the public at large, she seeks assistance to carry out these projects and more for communities in need, “given the scope of our planned projects, I humbly seek your financial support and generous contributions to help bring these humanitarian initiatives to life.”
In conclusion, the chairperson of the event and vice president of the Lagos Passionate Lions Club, Lion Uche Chigozie Okeke, also gave a word of support to the newly installed president, “for more than 100 years, Lions Club International. The largest serving organization in the world has been touching the lives of the less privileged in our society through the support and encouragement of people with lion hearts such as yourselves, we implore that as humanitarian we need your generous donations to help us at the Lagos Passionate Lions Club meet our challenges, to help us touch more lives of the less privileged in our society, especially within our communities,” she said.
