According to my research, you were a journalist, practicing with Blueprint Newspapers before your appointment as a Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state.
I love the journalism profession with passion and I practice same in different ways. I have been a producer and host of a TV programme (The Arena), I write in newspapers as a freelancer, I go after hidden issues to investigate and ensure the administration of justice, especially when such issues involved the violation of human rights. In fact, Sahara Reporters, Radio Nigeria, Daily Sun Newspapers and many other news media address me as a Human Rights Activist because of the role I play in ensuring victims of human rights violation get justice.
So far, you are doing well but note, being a chief press secretary to a governor or any political office holder is not a last bus stop in your career or field as either a journalist or a politician.
So, the way you handle your current office determines your advancement to a higher office because people would always look back to examine your previous assignment, to see how things were handled. Thereafter, make decision that may favour you or not, depending on findings during the examination of your formal activism.
Kindly ensure that your responses to those who criticise your boss are devoid of insults, degrading words or negativity in entirely because criticism means to push someone who may be even doing well, to do more, to let whoever is being criticised know that people are following and such should be careful in order to perform excellently.
No matter how provocative criticisms are, they are for good, they make leaders behave better, they change animalistic behaviours of some leaders and so on. So, handling them (criticisms) in a kind, polite or violence free manner, makes you a hero while the critics look weak and feel ashamed of themselves.
By doing so, you are gaining more support for your boss and at the same time, for yourself. I can tell you that many of our leaders do not know this. So, as a chief press secretary, you are the one to even educate your boss on how best to handle critics as regards your work. You are like a public relations officer in a company, which I believe you know what he or she does to help the company get the needed support from the host community, the government and people in general.
May God continue to keep and guide you to succeed in your assignment.
Long live the Governor, long live our dear Benue state, long live our people and may God take the glory.
