Lawmakers, Governors Returning To APC Shows Our Strength

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared that the party continues to enjoy popularity and acceptance across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It also insisted that defections from its ranks remain very minimal.

APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, made the claim on Wednesday, while featuring on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television.

He stressed that the ruling party is witnessing more people joining than leaving, adding that efforts are ongoing to reconcile with those who left.

“We have minimal defection. Very minimal compared to people who are trooping in every day,” Yilwatda said.

He pointed to movements within the legislature and among governors as proof of APC’s dominance.

According to him, “If you look at the members of the National Assembly, State Assemblies and governors who are trooping back in the APC from other political parties.

“it tells you that APC is still the most preferred political party and we are still even receiving more people.”

The chairman argued that this trend underscores the confidence Nigerians still have in the APC.

“This shows the kind of popularity and acceptance the APC has. I cannot say that one or two persons from APC may want to move to the other side,” he added.

Yilwatda assured that the party leadership is engaging those who left with a view to bringing them back, stressing that the APC remains their political home.
