The member representing Jos North-North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, has called on the Jos North Local Government Council to employ additional healthcare workers at the Anguwan Rimi Primary Healthcare Facility (PHC).
Aliyu made the call while commissioning additional wards and a laboratory, which he constructed and furnished at the PHC.
While expressing concern, he noted that apart from the head of the facility, only two staff are officially employed, while several volunteers stay overnight to care for patients.
“The head of the facility has been lamenting understaffing, and there is a dire need to employ more personnel. I appeal to the council to prioritize the absorption of volunteering staff that have been rendering services here for decades,” Aliyu stated.
The lawmaker also pledged to build a modern toilet facility and expand the reception hall at the PHC.
He further urged the council chairman, Hon. Joseph Christ, to embark on developmental projects across communities.
Aliyu commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for approving projects in his constituency under the 2024 budget but appealed for contractors to be mobilized for timely execution.
He also encouraged constituents to participate in the forthcoming Prof. Nentawe free medical outreach at Sunnah Hospital (Future University Teaching Hospital).
The lawmaker expressed appreciation to philanthropist Alhaji Sadeq Shuaibu Plaza for his earlier interventions in the Anguwan Rimi facility, which he said laid the foundation for further improvements.
A community youth leader, Nasiru Shu’aibu, praised the lawmaker’s efforts, noting his contributions in youth empowerment and solar streetlight installations.
On her part, the Jos North Local Government Council’s Director of Health, Mrs. Martha Kummiap, expressed gratitude for the intervention and promised to address the issue of understaffing.
She also appealed to women to make full use of the facility, especially for antenatal care.
