A lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Stella Osafile, has assured her constituents of her commitment to addressing issues in education and food security.

Osafile, who represents Amuwo Odofin 1 Constituency at the House of Assembly, also assured of prioritizing youth empowerment, infrastructure renewal, and inclusive governance, adding that she will attend to community concerns and projects.

She spoke at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders Meeting with its theme as ‘Governance in Action: The Gains of Renewed Hope Agenda,’ pledging that Amuwo-Odofin will remain at the centre of progress in Lagos State.

The meeting, which brought together landlords’ associations, youth groups, and community leaders to review progress, raise concerns, and strengthen collaboration, also offered a platform for the legislator to educate the constituents on the distinct roles of the legislature, executive, and judiciary, stressing that separation of powers is essential in preventing chaos and maintaining order in society.

She highlighted some of her achievements, including community-focused projects, such as community clean-up campaigns to improve sanitation, light up Amuwo-Odofin initiative with installation and repair of streetlights to improve on security.

She also listed food support programmes for vulnerable households; rehabilitation of inner Festac roads, and replacement of damaged manholes, which were done along with providing education support through free books, bags, and stationery for students.

“Youth empowerment in agriculture, with training in hydroponics, vertical farming, and distribution of start-up kits, sports and women empowerment programmes, including basketball tournaments and women-in-politics forums were also undertaken,” she said.

Olusegun Afolaranmi, who represented the Commissioner for Special Duties, Gbenga Oyerinde, urged residents to protect government projects from theft and vandalism, stressing that sustainable development requires partnership with citizens.

Ayilara Adeyemi, President of the Amuwo-Odofin Landlord and Residents Association, and community leaders also raised concerns about insecurity and crime in the community. Adeyemi condemned the menace of stray cattle grazing on farmlands, roads, and medians, describing it as a growing urban challenge.
