Former international, Dimeji Lawal has weighed in on the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to employ a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

The NFF took the decision following the Super Eagles’ dismal showing in their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles picked just one point from the two games.

They drew 1-1 against Bafana Bafana and lost 2-1 to the Squirrels.

The West Africans now occupy fifth position on the Group C table with three points from four games.

The current handler of the team, Finidi George is expected to be demoted to the position of an assistant once an expatriate is employed.

“How will you tell a coach that you have already contracted to learn from another coach? Why can’t we wait for him to finish his contract before taking such a step,” Lawal was quoted by Complete sports.

“You gave somebody a contract; he has only played two games, and you want to employ somebody else.”
