LASTMA arrests Togolese driver after Lagos Island speed-induced cash

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) successfully apprehended a Togolese driver following a serious hit-and-run incident at the Adeniji- Adele intersection, inward Ilubirin, Lagos Island, earlier today.

The director of Public Affairs, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement, Tuesday , stated that the crash involved a Mazda automobile (registration number (EPE 749 GS) whose driver, identified as a Togolese national, was reportedly operating the vehicle at an excessive and unlawful speed.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the reckless motorist lost control and violently struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway. The victim sustained grievous injuries and was left in a pool of blood.

“In a brazen attempt to evade justice, the driver tried to flee the scene with the vehicle. However, LASTMA operatives initiated an immediate and swift pursuit, apprehending the fugitive motorist through tactical maneuvering.

“The suspect was promptly transferred into the custody of security operatives from the Adeniji- Adele Police Division for interrogation and prosecution,” Adebayo said.
