JOS – Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council of Plateau state, Honourable Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, on Sunday raised fresh concerns over the alarming resurgence of fake and substandard medicines in the local government Council of the state .
Tyem made this known while speaking shortly after been formally decorated as the Battalion Grand Patron of the Boys Brigade Nigerian in the Council.
The investiture ceremony was held at the Church of Christ in Nations, RCC, Headquarters Kuffen in Langtang North local government council of Plateau state on Sunday.
Tyem, who described himself as a victim said So far our supervisory councillor for Water Sanitation and hygiene who spoke to me said, “In going about their duties, they have confiscated a cache of fake drugs.
“Some few months ago, I was sick and all the drugs administered to me did not work because they were fake.
“I am lucky that the fake drugs I took did not affect any of my vital organs.
“My administration is doing everything possible to revamp the health sector in the state and anyone found selling counterfeit drugs in the council would be dealt with .
“The health of our people can not be taken for granted, hence we are making the sector as well as education a priority.
Hon Tyem while expressing his appreciation, described the honour of been honoured by the boys brigade as both a call to duty and a reminder of the enduring values of mentorship, discipline, and faith.
Reflecting on his personal history with the organisation, he recalled his formative years in the Boys’ Brigade under the guidance of the church saying the organisation shaped him .
He reiterated his administration’s dedication to youth development as well as empowerment of Youths, women as well as the elderly in the council.
“We would continue to transform our council area and make it a shining light among the comity of councils in the state.”
Hon Pirfa also pledged his commitment to supporting the Boys’ Brigade, emphasising its vital role in fostering confidence and integrity among young people.
The Council boss vowed to continue to bring massive development to rural communities in the council.
“We would continue to deliver People-Oriented Projects to the people at the grassroots.”
Hon Tyem also called on the people of the local government to support the administration of his Excellency Barrister Caleb Mutfwang because of the laudable works he is doing in the state.
According to him, with the support of the governor, the local government councils are delivering more dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
He implored all sons and daughters of Tarok land to give their maximum support to the government for better development .
