The Lagos State Government held its 2025 Job Fair, drawing over 5,000 young job seekers, graduates, and entrepreneurs.
The event, announced on Friday, featured more than 300 organizations from sectors like ICT, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, media, and creative industries.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Commissioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso, emphasized his administration’s commitment to empowering Lagos youths with skills and opportunities to thrive in a competitive economy.
Organized by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, the fair underscored the state’s dedication to an inclusive economy under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, where every talent and ambition is nurtured.
The event’s theme, “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities,” resonated with Lagos youths, encouraging them to pursue paths aligned with their strengths while contributing to the state’s prosperity.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted investments in skills acquisition, vocational training, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship as key priorities.Head of Service Olabode Agoro, represented by Permanent Secretary for Housing Toriola Abdulafeez, urged stakeholders to support sustainable wealth creation programs.
Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment Akinyemi Ajigbotafe described the fair as a lifeline, noting that the ministry has facilitated over 200,000 jobs in four years through initiatives like the Graduate Internship Placement Programme, vocational centers, and the new Leather Hub in Mushin.
Billions of naira have also been disbursed via the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund to support small businesses and startups.Ajigbotafe praised employers, development partners, and technical collaborators like Human Capital Partners and Intermarc for their role in creating opportunities.
Permanent Secretary Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka lauded Sanwo-Olu’s visionary leadership and thanked all participants, including keynote speakers, panellists, and employers, for ensuring the event’s success.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustainable platforms for wealth creation and decent work.
The fair included a panel discussion featuring Boladele Dapo-Thomas, Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, moderated by Permanent Secretary for Establishment and Training Olubusola Abidakun.
