“Operatives received complaints that an individual was brandishing a locally made gun and threatening residents at Sabon Kasuwa area of Abule Eko, Ikorodu.

“Acting swiftly, the operatives traced the suspect to an uncompleted building, where he was arrested,” Hundeyin said.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, freed in 2022 following a prison term for cultism, was still actively involved in a cult.

Hundeyin added that the suspect confessed to possessing a firearm and directed operatives to a toilet pipe in the unfinished building, where it was recovered.

He stated that the suspect is cooperating with the investigation to help identify other cult members and recover additional weapons.

He is expected to be prosecuted afterward.

Hundeyin noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, praised the operatives for their efficiency and quick response that resulted in the arrest and recovery.

The commissioner called on residents to obey the law, avoid cultism and armed robbery, and keep supplying the police with valuable information to help rid communities of criminal elements.
