The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has announced the seizure of over 4,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) recovered from smugglers operating in the Badagry axis.
The operation, according to them was conducted as part of the corps’ strategy to combat economic sabotage, adding that it underscores the commitment of the State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro.
According to the command’s spokesperson, NSCDC, Superintendent of Corps, Oluwaseun Abodunrin, on Friday, November 7, 2025, the Badagry Division, led by Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga, acted on credible intelligence regarding illicit activities along the waterways.
The smugglers, known for siphoning petroleum products, abandoned a large consignment upon the swift intervention of NSCDC officers.
“The recovered items included approximately 150 kegs of 25 litres each and other containers filled with fuel, along with additional empty kegs ready for loading.”
“The seizure was bolstered by collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, which also handed over 73 additional 25-litre yellow kegs of PMS recovered during separate operations, demonstrating effective inter-agency cooperation”
“While parading the seized products on Wednesday, Commandant Keshinro issued a stiffer warning to all unrepentant saboteurs, urging them to desist from their “dastardly and evil action,” particularly during the end-of-year season.
He affirmed that his gallant men will meet them with resolute resistance,” he stated.
Keshinro also specifically warned illegal dredgers operating under the Third Mainland, Carter, and Eko bridges to cease their activities immediately.
He stressed that these “untoward acts” are capable of undermining the integrity of the critical national assets and causing destruction of lives.
He noted that the Command, operating under the vision of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, will continue to deploy the three Cs: Collaboration, Cooperation, and Coordination to dislodge criminal elements.
The Command will also launch a public engagement initiative on the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in Lagos West on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
