Lagos: New members join ADC in 20 LGAs


The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos state has recorded historic additions from 20 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

This was disclosed in a press statement by the Director of Communications of Lagos ADC, Mabel Oboh.

She said described defection into the party as a significant milestone, as people from diverse political backgrounds across all Lagos were welcomed.

The party spokesperson in Lagos said the event brought together individuals from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party.

Oboh confirmed that Hon. George Ashiru, the Chairman of the party for Lagos State, hosted the ceremony, which was coordinated simultaneously across all ADC LGA areas.

Oboh expressed gratitude to key organisers, including Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, Alhaji M.M. Ashorobi, Captain Tunji Shelle, and Mr. Niyi Adams.

Notable figures in attendance included Prof. Ola Olateju, Dr. Lawal, Alhaji Mohammadu Muritala Ashorobi, Fabiyi Dimeji, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, and other dignitaries.

ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, who attended the occasion, emphasised the importance of party unity and the drive of its members.

He promised that ADC would work to address the sufferings of Nigerians starting in 2027.

In his speech, Hon. Ashiru stated that the party is committed to fostering inclusive leadership and governance that benefits everyone in Lagos.

He added, “Together, we can build a brighter future for all.”

According to Mabel Oboh, “The influx of new members signifies a significant opportunity for collaborative progress. Together, our leadership and these newcomers will play a vital role in shaping a promising future for Lagos.”

Hon. Ashiru concluded his speech by welcoming coalition partners and the over 5,000 new members who joined the party across all 20 local government areas.

He urged party supporters to unite and mobilise their networks to create a larger, more impactful movement.

He ended by assuring everyone that with unity and hard work.

“ADC will arise and shine to build a global Lagos,” he said.

Oboh noted that this gathering marks a crucial moment in ADC’s history, highlighting its potential to reshape the political landscape of Lagos State and demonstrating its commitment to community engagement and unity.

The Eti-Osa chairperson, Elizabeth Ekamem, and her executive were present to facilitate the integration of new members into the Eti-Osa LGA.
