The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamusideen Oladiti, popularly known as Shameleon, before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court in Yaba over the alleged murder of a dispatch rider.
Oladiti, aged 55, was brought before the court on a three-count charge bordering on murder, conspiracy, and causing grievous bodily harm.
According to the charge sheet, the incident reportedly took place on August 27 and September 17, 2025, within the Lagos Island Magisterial District.

According to Vanguard, the prosecution alleged that Oladiti, alongside other suspects still at large, unlawfully assaulted two men, identified as Imam Ramon and Omale Samuel, by repeatedly striking them with fists, which led to severe injuries. Ramon was later taken to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he died from the injuries sustained.
The court was informed that the offences contravened Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
It was gathered that the altercation began after the dispatch rider was accused of scratching Oladiti’s vehicle along Tapa Street on Lagos Island.
Eyewitnesses reportedly told police investigators that the victim was repeatedly beaten with a helmet and fists by Oladiti and his associates.
The dispatch rider later collapsed at the scene and was rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Oladiti, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
The presiding Magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
