“All riders operating between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. are instructed to wear reflective jackets, while all delivery motorcycles and bicycles must be fitted with reflective tapes or markers to ensure clear visibility on the road,” Musa stated.
He added that all delivery companies must sensitise their riders and ensure strict compliance, noting that enforcement would be carried out by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).
In response to the directive, Glovo Nigeria, one of the leading delivery platforms in Lagos, pledged full compliance with the new safety guidelines.
In a letter signed by its General Manager, Mr. Lamide Akinola, the company commended the Lagos State Government for prioritising road safety and safeguarding both riders and other road users.
Akinola further revealed that Glovo is already distributing 3,000 reflective vests free of charge to its couriers and is expected to complete the process within the next month.
“We are encouraging other delivery service providers within the state to follow suit,” he said.
The Ministry of Transportation, while welcoming the gesture, assured that it would continue working with courier and logistics companies to promote a safer, more responsible delivery ecosystem across Lagos State.
