Justice Nicole Clay of the Lagos State High Court has made a ruling to discharge and acquit three individuals who were detained due to their participation in the #EndSARS protest.
A civic group, Take-It-Back Movement on Monday shared the news in a statement, expressing their gratitude to the Lagos State chapter of the movement for their efforts in handling the legal cases and seeing them through to the end.
The civic group regretted that about 10 more #ENDSARS protesters were still languishing in prison and it revealed it was working for their release.
The freed #EndSARS detainees were represented by Barrister Ogunlana.
The movement which announced the release, in a post on its X handle, wrote: “After a year long legal intervention by the TIB, Court discharges and acquits three #EndSARS detainees – Sunday Okoro, Olumide Fatai and Oluwole Yisa.
“Great appreciation to our Lagos team who stayed on the case. #RevolutionNow.”

Gistreel reports that the #End SARS was a decentralised social movement and series of mass protests against police brutality in Nigeria.
The movement which erupted in October 2020 had called for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a notorious unit of the Nigerian Police known for its long record of abuse against Nigerian citizens.
During the movement, some protesters were arrested for allegedly instigating violence in a peaceful environment while some were allegedly shot dead by the Nigerian soldiers who attempted to disrupt the protest.
