After an impressive debut in Port Harcourt, Movie in the Park brought its magic to Lagos with a Halloween edition on November 1 at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island. The event attracted more than 3,000 guests for an unforgettable evening that blended film, fashion, and festive fun under the stars.

The vibrant open-air cinema experience welcomed movie lovers from across Lagos as early as 5 p.m., setting the tone with music, food, and themed activities before the main movie screening began at 7:15 p.m. Guests were treated to the showing of IDIA, the new Nollywood feature, which kept the audience captivated.

Adding to the night’s excitement, the stars of IDIA made a special appearance for a meet-and-greet session, allowing fans to interact, take photos, and share in the cinematic celebration.

The evening didn’t end there. The energy carried into a lively after-party that lasted until midnight, featuring music and electrifying performances that kept guests dancing under the Lagos night sky.

Powered by Campari and supported by Pepsi, Amstel Malta, Espolon Tequila, Wild Turkey, Munch IT, Reel Fruit, Twenties Tribe, News Central, TVC, and Trace Naija, the Halloween edition reaffirmed Movie in the Park as one of Nigeria’s most anticipated outdoor cinema experiences.

Speaking after the event, Ihechi Opara, the organiser and founder of Movie in the Park, expressed delight at the overwhelming turnout and the continued growth of the initiative.

“Lagos truly came alive for this edition. We wanted to create an experience that went beyond just watching a movie — something that brings people together through film, music, and shared culture. Seeing over 3,000 people come out, dress up, and have fun in a safe, communal space was very rewarding. Seeing people dress up on theme, with their amazing costumes, added to the look and feel of our Halloween-themed movie experience.”

He added: “Our goal has always been to redefine how people enjoy movies in Nigeria — to make it immersive, interactive, and memorable. With the support of our amazing partners and the incredible energy from Lagosians, this Halloween edition exceeded our expectations.”

The Movie in the Park team says more city editions are planned in the coming months, promising even bigger and more immersive experiences for audiences nationwide.
